The Westbrook Fire Department has shut down its COVID-19 testing clinic at the public safety building, citing a drop in both the number of cases and testing requests.
At its height, the site was conducting over 200 tests a day, but numbers have since dropped to under 100, according to a statement from the fire department on the closure last week.
“For nearly a year and a half Westbrook’s firefighters committed time and energy to support the testing mission,” the statement said. “Since inception, our team conducted more than 50,000 COVID-19 tests. Additionally, we operated vaccine and booster clinics reaching hundreds of citizens.”
