Harpswell Democrat Sheila Menair is seeking to represent District 99 in the Maine House of Representatives.
Menair, who was born in Brunswick and has lived in Harpswell for the past six years, works as a financial planner and principal at Falmouth’s Casco Bay Wealth Advisors. She is also the president and co-founder of TogetHER, a nonprofit that provides financial literacy workshops to women.
She’ll face elder Cheryl Golek, who co-owns a long-term care facility for patients with dementia, in the June 14 Democratic primary. The winner of the November general election will represent District 99, formerly District 51, which is comprised of Harpswell and part of Brunswick.
Menair’s platform is focused on improving public healthcare and education, as well as securing women’s rights and environmental protections.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
