William A. McAloon Jr.
NORTH BERWICK – On Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, William A. McAloon Jr., 86, of North Berwick passed peacefully after a short illness.
Bill was born in North Andover, Mass. on August 9, 1935 to the late William A. McAloon Sr. and Anna (Donovan) McAloon. He attended local schools.
Retiring from the Methuen Fire Department in the mid ’80s, he turned his attention to purchasing and developing real estate as well as spending time with family and friends on the family farm in Waterboro or their cottage at Biddeford Pool. An Army veteran, he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting as well as boating and fishing. As an enthusiastic gardener, he maintained several vegetable gardens and landscapes on his properties throughout the years.
After losing his wife, Bertha (Weinhold) McAloon in 2007, Bill is survived by his four sons, William A. McAloon III and his wife Megan of Windham N.H., Charles E. McAloon Sr. of South Portland, Robert M. McAloon and his wife Leah of Amesbury, Mass. and Brian A. McAloon of Scarborough. Also among his survivors are his sister, Mary Breen, her husband William of Andover, Mass.; as well as seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Bill was predeceased by his sister, Joanne (McAloon) McCarthy, and his brothers Cornelius and Edward McAloon.
In his later years, Bill traveled and found companionship with his close friend, Jeannine McEvoy of North Andover, Mass.
A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, Main Street, North Andover, Mass. Burial will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery located on Salem Street, North Andover, Mass. Family and friends may call on Tuesday Feb. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third St., North Andover, Mass.
