Brunswick will host the Travis Mills Foundation’s Miles for Mills Memorial Day 5K at 9 a.m. May 29 after two years of remote-only racing, according to a press release from the organization.
The foundation, which supports post-9/11 veterans, expects up to 1,500 walkers and runners will participate in the event, which will take place at Brunswick Landing.
The event will include prizes for top finishers, food trucks and a moving display honoring the 84 Mainers who died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Racers can register at milesformills.org. T-shirts will be available for the first 1,000 participants to pay the $25 registration fee.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
