City ‘sleighs’ with holiday light display

From the downtown streets to the River Walk to Riverbank Park, Westbrook is shining with holiday spirit.

Westbrook Public Works installed more than 100,000 lights in the city, including these on the River Walk. Resident Sarah Savage said the lights are not only pretty, they also make it easier avoid ice on the path.

Festive lights line the city streets.
The predominant color theme red and green, but lights of other colors shine downtown, too.
The lights depict Christmas favorites, like this wreath, and reindeer, but a few "W" Westbrook logos have been spotted as well.
City Arborist Doug Eaton and the Public Services crew this year doubled the number of lights used to 100,000.
