SABATTUS — All schools in Regional School Unit 4 will be closed Friday after the Sabattus Police Department notified Superintendent Andrew Carlton of a threat made against Oak Hill Middle School.
In a message to the school community sent Thursday evening, Carlton wrote that all school buildings will remain closed until he receives more information regarding the credibility of the threat. He said that Friday will not be a remote day.
“Given the times we live in and the recent events around the country, I urge you all to have a conversation with your children regarding what they are seeing on social media and hearing from their friends.”
He requested that parents contact the Sabattus police if their child has any information regarding the threat.
The letter comes just two days after local police responded to a confrontation between two students at Oak Hill Middle School, one who was reportedly in possession of a weapon. Neither student has been named, nor is it clear whether there is any connection between the Tuesday altercation and the reported threat Thursday.
RSU 4 includes students from Litchfield, Sabattus and Wales.
