A storage shed at Falmouth Community Park at 19 Winn Road and its contents were destroyed in a fire Dec. 4.
When firefighters arrived at the park about 6:30 p.m., the 25-by-15 foot shet was “heavily involved in flames,” according to the Falmouth FIre Dept. There were no injuries reported.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire and no cause had been determined by Dec. 6, according to Maine Public Safety Department Spokesperson Shannon Moss.
The shed was used primarily for storing equipment for the town’s soccer programs and contained balls, nets and goals, said Falmouth Parks and Community Programs Director Lucky D’Ascanio.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
