SOUTH PARIS — Multiple fire departments battled flames that engulfed a three-story home Wednesday night on Western Avenue.
It was not immediately clear how many people were inside the house when the fire began, but it was reported that everyone had gotten out safely.
The home at 68 Western Ave. is near the intersection of Hillside Avenue.
The first alarm sounded just after 9 p.m. after a report of flames on the top floor at 69 Western Ave. A short time later, a second alarm went out and Paris firefighters began calling for assistance from other departments.
By 9:20 p.m., the building was described as engulfed in flames, as crews from Norway, Oxford, West Paris, Buckfield, Hebron, Poland and Mechanic Falls were headed to the scene.
At least one of three vehicles parked near the home was said to be ablaze.
The Paris community is still rattled after a 5-year-old boy perished in a blaze on Nichols Street just a day earlier.
