YARMOUTH — Angel Huntsman scored four first-half goals and top-ranked North Yarmouth Academy (14-1-1) cruised to a 7-1 victory over No. 8 St. Dom’s (5-11) in a Class D South girls’ soccer quarterfinal Wednesday afternoon.
NYA will host Richmond or Temple Academy on Friday.
Huntsman’s first goal came 10 seconds into the game off an opening kick from Hayden Wienckowski. She then made it 2-0 on a header off Maggie Holt’s corner kick.
Emily Robbins and Marion Robbins assisted on Huntsman’s next two goals. A goal from Lila Jackson made it 5-0 at halftime.
Vy Tran and Anna Belleau added unassisted goals in the second half after NYA goalkeeper Charlotte Harper-Cunningham made her lone save on a penalty kick by Emma Roy.
The Saints got on the board with seven minutes left when Avery Gravel scored, assisted by Jessica Zimmerman.
Anna Theriault and Charlie Apodaca combined to make seven saves for St. Dom’s.
CAPE ELIZABETH 5, GREELY 0: Emily Supple scored three goals and assisted on another, pushing the top-seeded Capers (13-1) past the eighth-seeded Rangers (7-6-2) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Cape Elizabeth.
CC Duryee opened the scoring off a cross from Evelyn Agrodnia less than four minutes into the game. Agrodnia finished with three assists, including another cross that resulted in Supple’s first goal for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Maggie Cochran scored Cape’s other goal.
The Capers will host fifth-seeded York in the semifinals.
YARMOUTH 1, FREEPORT 0: Ava Feeley’s goal with 1:39 remaining in the first half held up and the second-seeded Clippers (14-1-1) edged the seventh-seeded Falcons (8-8) in a Class B South quarterfinal at Yarmouth.
The Clippers advance to host either Medomak Valley or Wells in the semifinals.
Feeley’s goal came off a corner kick from Macy Gilroy.
Freeport put six shots on Yarmouth keeper Regan Sullivan but couldn’t score. Amanda Panciocco made five saves for the Falcons.
MESSALONSKEE 3, MT. ARARAT 1: Emma Parsons scored twice in the first half, leading No. 5 Messalonskee to a Class A North quarterfinal win over No. 4 Mt. Ararat.
Brooklyne Choate cut into the deficit midway through the second half, but Natalie Tracy answered with a penalty kick.
FIELD HOCKEY
CHEVERUS 5, KENNEBUNK 1: Taylor Tory and Lucy Johnson each scored twice to lead the top-seeded Stags (15-0) past the eighth-seeded Rams (9-6) in a Class A South quarterfinal in Portland.
Tory’s two goals gave Cheverus a 2-0 halftime lead. She also set up one of Johnson’s goals in the third quarter before Mackenzie Cash scored off a penalty corner to make it 5-0.
YARMOUTH 2, FREEPORT 1: Ari Rustad’s second goal of the game, with 3:53 remaining, lifted the third-seeded Clippers (9-4-2) over the sixth-seeded Falcons (8-8) in a Class B South quarterfinal in Yarmouth.
The Clippers next play at No. 2 Cape Elizabeth.
Freeport struck first when Lily Welsher scored on a rebound off a penalty corner four minutes into the game. The Falcons held a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Rustad’s first goal, from Alice Donahue, tied the game in the third quarter. Her second goal was unassisted, as she sent a blast past Freeport goalie Vicki Balla (two saves).
Cassie Walsh made five saves for Yarmouth.
SCARBOROUGH 2, NOBLE 0: The second-seeded Red Storm (15-1) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Anjali Bhatnagar and Daisy Stone and shut out the 10th-seeded Knights (6-9-1) to advance to the Class A South semifinals.
Ayden Harris and Lillian Finley each picked up an assist, while Scarborough goalie Katie Roy made three saves.
Noble’s Trinity Valle stopped six shots.
MT. ARARAT 2, MT. BLUE 0: Paige Witwicki broke a scoreless deadlock late in the third quarter, then set up a goal by Audrey Marchildon in the fourth-quarter goals as the second-seeded Eagles (10-3-2) beat the No. 7 Cougars (8-8) in a Class A North quarterfinal in Topsham.
Witwicki put the Eagles ahead after a scramble in front of Mt. Blue goalie Brooklynn Keane. Marchildon made it 2-0 with about nine minutes remaining, converting Witwicki’s pass off a penalty corner.
SKOWHEGAN 5, CAMDEN HILLS 0: Laney LeBlanc had two goals and two assists to lead the top-ranked River Hawks (15-0) to a Class A North quarterfinal win in Skowhegan.
Layla Conway added a goal and two assists. Norie Tibbetts and Ellie Quinn also scored and Lanie Vanadestine made 11 saves for the River Hawks, who will host No. 5 Messalonskee in the semifinals.
Jess Hodgkins stopped 20 shots for eighth-seeded Camden Hills (7-8-1).
