An accident involving a piece of construction equipment closed one northbound lane of Interstate 295 near the Tuttle Road overpass in Cumberland late Saturday afternoon, backing up traffic and causing delays.

A spokeswoman for the Maine State Police said a vehicle struck its load on the overpass, which is about a mile-and-a-half from the Falmouth town line. Maine Department of Transportation survey crews were on the scene to inspect the bridge, she said. There were no injuries.

Crews were close to clearing the accident scene Saturday evening.
