Ann “Randazza” Connellan
SCARBOROUGH – Ann “Randazza” Connellan of Cape Elizabeth passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at the Gosnell House in Scarborough. Born to Lee and Barbara Hughes in 1951, this flower child was in tune with everything nature, be it animal, plant, or mineral. From gardening in the Cape Elizabeth community garden, to tumbling stones, to tapping her toes (or tambourine) to anything with a beat, you’d be hard pressed to find a more vibrant soul.
As an avid reader and lifelong learner, Ann’s true passion was passing that lust for knowledge on to the next generation. In her 20s, she opened one of the first Head Start schools in Southern Maine and devoted her career to touching the lives and minds of many children who, as adults today, still speak her name with a smile.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Katherine Lane and son-in-law Cory Lane of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; her son, J. Joseph Connellan and his daughters Anna, Emma and Cara Saler; her brother, Stephen Hughes and sister-in-law Carol Hughes; her nieces Laura Hughes and Stephanie Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 followed by a graveside ceremony at the Riverside Cemetery in Cape Elizabeth.
