Prince Memorial Library in Cumberland will host Stories Under the Sky, a family read-aloud picnic at the SAD 51 Amphitheater at noon June 12.
Three children’s stories including “Peter Rabbit Decides to Change His Name,” by Thornton Burgess, “The Book with No Pictures” by B.J. Novak, and “The Three Little Aliens and the Big Bad Robot” by Margaret McNamara will be read aloud. The event will also include song performances and other kid-friendly activities.
Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and lunch and/or snacks to the event. The picnic will held in fair weather only; cancellation information can be found on Prince Memorial Library’s Facebook page.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
