Shirley E. Bishop

WINDHAM/ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Shirley E. Bishop, 89, passed away on May 18, 2021, at Ormond in the Pines, Ormond Beach, Fla. Shirley “Shirl” was born in Perry, Maine on April 29, 1932, to Alton and Lola (Gove) Bishop. He graduated from Pembroke High School and served in the 82d Airborne Division of the United States Army. After his service, he returned to Maine and attended Southern Maine Technical Institute where he trained to be a machinist. He worked at W.H. Nichols Company and then spent the remainder of his career at Pratt and Whitney.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Townsend Bishop; his parents; and a brother, Sheldon Bishop.

He is survived by his three children, son, Jeffrey Bishop and his wife Christine; daughter, Debra Reed, son, Brian Bishop and his wife Lisa; his four grandchildren, Britney Short, Kelsey Bishop, Brylee Bishop and Cole Bishop; and one great-grandchild, MaKenzie Short.

Shirl was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a quiet kind-hearted man with an infectious chuckle and a smile that would light up a room. He will be deeply missed by all.

A Veteran’s Burial will be held at Mayberry Cemetery in Windham on June 11 at 12 p.m.
