Philip E. Gauvin

BIDDEFORD – Philip E. Gauvin, 78, of Biddeford, born on August 8, 1942, went home to be with the Lord on May 27, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Phil proudly served in the U.S. Army as tank sargent. He was a man of few words with many career accomplishments that many were unaware of. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after over 22 years in shop 31 as an avid machinist. Prior to PNSY he was a licensed plumber, he spent numerous years as the maintenance supervisor at Brentwood nursing home and Kindred Healthcare leaving to care for the love of his life.

Phil was a jack of all trades who enjoyed home improvement projects, gardening and his beloved miniature schnauzers, Enoch and Sammi.

He is survived by four siblings; and his children Pamela (Todd) Steele, Paul (Cathy) Gauvin, Caroline (Mark) Emerson, Jim (Penny) Gauvin and Debbie (Steve) Howard; grandchildren Mark, Paul, Stephen, Ashley, Katie, Cassidi, Naia, Faith and Bethany; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jo-Ann; and his parents Simone and Philip.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1 at Cote Funeral Home in Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
