DETROIT – Robbie Grossman hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Detroit Tigers a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees on Friday night.

The Yankees took the lead in the top of the inning when automatic runner Aaron Judge came home from third on a passed ball. Justin Wilson (1-1) retired the first two Detroit batters in the bottom half, but on a full count, Grossman sent a high drive that cleared the fence in left field.

Rougned Odor homered and had four hits for the Yankees, who dropped a bizarre game that also included a three-ball walk for New York hitter Gio Urshela.

BLUE JAYS 11, INDIANS 2: Hyun Jin Ryu regained his control after a rough first inning battling strong winds, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Joe Panik drove in three runs apiece, leading Toronto to a win at Cleveland in a game called in the bottom of the seventh.

CUBS 1, REDS 0: David Bote homered, Adbert Alzolay wriggled out of several jams while pitching into the sixth inning and Chicago beat visiting Cincinnati.

Bote connected leading off the fifth to spoil Reds starter Vladimir Gutierrez’s major league debut and help the Cubs win for the 10th time in 12 games, even though they managed just three hits.

Alzolay (3-4) threw 103 pitches in 5 2/3 innings. The right-hander gave up five hits, struck out six and walked three after issuing no walks in his previous three starts.

NOTES

YANKEES: Giancarlo Stanton was reinstated from the injured list prior to Friday night’s game at Detroit.

Stanton had been out since May 13 because of a strained left quadriceps.

DODGERS: Cody Bellinger is ready to return from a broken leg that has sidelined him for nearly two months.

Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts said the 2019 NL MVP will start in center field on Saturday and Sunday against San Francisco.

Bellinger has been out since April 5 because of a hairline fracture in his left fibula. The World Series champion Dodgers went through a rough patch without him but have since won 13 of 15 and were a half-game behind the NL West-leading San Diego Padres going into Friday’s games.

INDIANS: Outfielder Jordan Luplow was placed on the 10-day injured list because of a sprained left ankle.

Luplow has been dealing with an ankle issue since training camp, and continued soreness and swelling over the past few days forced the Indians to make the move before opening a three-game series against Toronto.
