Margaret “Meg” Baker

FREEPORT – Margaret Baker, 88, died peacefully at her home on May 19, 2021.

Margaret was born in Waltham, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Purves) Uberti. She was raised in Waltham, Mass., and graduated from Waltham High School in 1951 and attended Chandler Business School in Boston. She married the late J. Lawrence Baker in 1954, made their home and raised their children in Waltham, Mass. Following her late husband’s early retirement due to disability, she relocated to Freeport, in 1987.

Meg is survived by one son, Stephen J. Baker and his wife, Marye, of Waltham, Mass.; and three daughters: Joanne L. Cincotta and her husband, Robert, of Billerica, Mass.; Barbara Bishop and her husband, John, of Freeport; and Nancy Baker Snowman and husband, Michael, of Scarborough. She is also survived by one sister: Ruth Arena of Waltham, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Victoria, Christina, Andrew, Derek, Mark, Jenica and Jacqueline, and six great-grandchildren, Regina, Vanessa, Claire, Cormick, William and Michael, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Evelyn.

Meg was beloved by her family and respected by her community. She was a loving caregiver to her father, her children, and ultimately her husband. She was an angel. She will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered.

There will be visiting hours from 3-6 p.m., on Monday, May 24, at Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth, Maine 04096 (207-846-4011) and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 25 at 10 a.m., at St. Jude’s Church, 134 Main St., Freeport, with burial following at South Freeport Cemetery.
