I am supporting Hope Cahan for reelection to the Falmouth Town Council because of her commitment to civility and transparency in bridging divisions in our community.
It is inevitable that residents will disagree on topics they feel passionate about. We have different backgrounds, different priorities and different philosophies about the role of town government. I have always appreciated living in Falmouth, where the vast majority of us share our opinions civilly.
I am impressed that Hope treats with respect members of the public who have a First Amendment right to speak their mind.
She also feels strongly about increasing public participation in decisions made by our governing boards and council committees. She has advocated for the significant improvements that staff has made to alerting the public through the town website and notices sent from Town Hall.
Hope Cahan deserves your vote.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
