FREEPORT — Nathan Abbot took the mound in the fourth inning for the Freeport baseball team and earned the win as the Falcons beat Lake Region 7-2 on Friday.
Blaine Cockburn started the game for Freeport (9-0) and added a double at the plate. Caden Benedict and Elias Thomas also had one double each, with Anthony Panciocco driving home two runners on sac flies.
Grady Garland saddled the loss for Lake Region (4-4). Hayden Trembley hit a double.
MORSE 8, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: Gabe Aucoin had two hits, including a triple, to lead the Shipbuilders to a win over the Eagles in Newcastle.
Jansen Morrison and Brenton Cahill each had two hits for Morse (3-4).
Lincoln falls to 0-4.
SOFTBALL
LINCOLN ACADEMY 3, MORSE 2: The Eagles (2-1) captured a win on the road against the Shipbuilders (4-3) in Bath.
Morse pitcher Camdyn Johnson had 13 strikeouts and no walks. Abby Carpenter and Chloe Creamer each hit a double for the Shipbuilders.
