I just paid an exorbitant vehicle excise tax in the amount of $610. Why does Maine tax us so high? I don’t see why that has to be! Are we so poor that we must rob our fellow man? I know that otherwise, we have a good tax base.

Did you know that other states, such as Louisiana, have it so low that it’s only $25 a year? Texas and Georgia, and 23 other states, don’t have a vehicle excise tax at all.
