A woman was killed and a man seriously injured when their motorcycle crashed Sunday afternoon on Emery Mills Road in Shapleigh, police said.
York County Sheriff William L. King Jr. identified the victim in a statement as Marisa Standly, 27, of Springvale. She was a passenger on a 2019 Harley-Davidson operated by Olaf Nordmann, 51, also of Springvale.
Witnesses told police that the motorcycle was traveling north on Emery Mills Road when it veered off the road onto a soft shoulder before hitting trees. Standly was pronounced dead at the scene. Nordmann was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was listed in fair condition Sunday night.
An accident reconstructionist from the York Police Department arrived to assist in the continuing investigation.
