The town of Scarborough is holding a hazardous waste collection day from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 8.
Acceptable materials include fluorescent bulbs, paint thinner, pool chemicals, pesticides and automotive fluids. Unacceptable items include latex paint, propane tanks and smoke detectors. For a complete list, see the town’s May 1 newsletter at www.scarboroughmaine.org.
Materials may be brought to Scarborough Public Works at 20 Washington Ave. Residents of Saco, Biddeford and Old Orchard Beach are also welcome to take advantage of the free collection day.
Proof of residency is required, but there is no fee.
