BENTON — A body was recovered Monday night from the Benton Falls Dam on the Sebasticook River.
On Tuesday, state police said there was nothing to indicate foul play was involved in the death.
Shannon Moss, public information officer for the Maine Department of Public Safety, wrote in an email Monday that state police had been notified earlier in the day of a body in the water near the dam.
The Fairfield Fire Department helped retrieve the body, according to Moss, and the state Office of Chief Medical Examiner had been brought into the investigation.
The Benton Falls Dam is in the town of Benton, on the lower part of the Sebasticook River, in Kennebec County.
Further information was not available Tuesday, according to Moss.
