Greta Warming Wallace

WESTBROOK – Greta Warming Wallace, 92, a lifelong resident of Westbrook, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2021.

Greta was born on Dec. 16, 1928, daughter of Adolf N. and Ingeborg (Jensen) Warming. She was a graduate of Westbrook High School, class of 1947. She married Douglas M. Wallace on April 4, 1959.

A homemaker, Greta loved to cook and share recipes of the delectable treats she made for church gatherings and neighbors. She loved gardening and entertaining guests on her deck overlooking her lovely garden. Greta enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Englewood, Fla. where both she and Doug were involved in their community for 20 years. She was a member of the Westbrook Women’s Club for 37 years and a member of The Greater Portland Women of Rotary for many years, serving as president in 1986-1987. She is also a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. Greta was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, serving on several committees including co-president of The Women’s Group. Greta loved music and sang for many years in the church choirs in both Maine and Florida.

She was predeceased by Douglas, her beloved husband of 54 years. She is survived by her three sons, Douglas M. Wallace Jr. (Melanie) of Denver, Stephen W. Wallace of Mathews, Va., and David T. Wallace (Debra) of Portland; and her granddaughters, Amanda G. Wallace and Oceanna P. Golliday.

The family expresses their gratitude to the loving staff at Avita of Stroudwater for providing quality care in Greta’s recent years.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 Main St., Westbrook. Burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook.
