Spring festival
The community is invited to “Celebrate Spring at Walker Field” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 23, on Walker Street.
The event will be an opportunity to be outside, play games, plant seeds in a raised garden, take home some new books and have a takeaway lunch with friends.
All guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control will be followed.
Growing need for plants
Kate Richardson and Kate Waxman, parents of two kindergarten students at Congin Elementary School, are seeking donations of both indoor and outdoor plants for a sale on May 22 to benefit the PTO and “raise much-needed funding for our teachers and students.”
Several Congin teachers are growing plants with their students to support the event as well.
To donate, email conginplantsale@gmail.com.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
