I am writing in support of Mark Segrist for Cumberland Town Council (Cumberland Foreside). I was introduced to Mark through his wife, Angela, who is the founder of Maine Needs.
As an international trade and customs attorney, Mark also actively gives back to our greater community as a volunteer with Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project and, locally, as a member of the Cumberland Lands & Conservation Commission’s Climate Action Plan Subcommittee and as a Little League baseball coach of my daughter’s team.
Mark cares about many of the same things I do, including strengthening community connections and supporting and growing small businesses in ways that reduce the property tax burden on individuals and families while preserving the character of our town and the environment. And I appreciate the creative approaches I believe he will bring to the table. I hope you will consider joining me in voting for Mark Segrist on June 8.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
