Doris Laverriere

BIDDEFORD — Mrs. Doris Laverriere, 91, of Biddeford, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Biddeford Estates in Biddeford.

Mrs. Laverriere was born March 15, 1930, in Biddeford, Maine, to Mr. Adelard Petit and Mrs. Agnes Caouette Petit. She was educated in Biddeford schools. Doris married Renald Laverriere in Biddeford on July 4, 1950, until Renald’s death, December 13, 1982. Doris later met Ernest Quintal and they were together for over 20 years until Ernest’s death, July 27, 2010.

Doris was employed in local shoe shops including Westland Shoe in Biddeford and Nike in Saco. She was also employed at Fiber Materials as a production worker prior to retiring.

Doris loved to socialize. She was known for her smile and friendly personality. In younger years, Doris ran clubs for Nichols department store in Biddeford which earned her credits to purchase clothes for herself and family. Doris also loved walking to downtown Biddeford to shop, have breakfast or lunch and meet new and old friends. Doris and Renald raised four boys with great pride and created a household full of laughter and fun. The family would gather each Sunday to play cards. Doris and her husband, Renald loved to visit friends and family. They loved to go dancing on Saturday nights as well.

In her later years, Doris enjoyed playing cards with her sister-in-laws every Tuesday and going to the DAV Club on Sundays with her sister and brother for a meal, music and dancing. She also enjoyed snow-birding with Ernie in Zephryhills, Florida, during the winter months where they enjoyed taking walks in the parks or just sitting on park benches listening to live music. They also lived in Wells, Maine, during the summer months where Doris was proud of her flower gardens.

Mrs. Laverriere is preceded in death by: her husband, Renald Laverriere; companion, Ernest Quintal; brothers, Adrien Petit, Gerry Petit, Raymond Petit; and her sister, Dorothy Baillargeon.

Mrs. Laverriere is survived by: her sons, Roger Laverriere of Biddeford, Ronald Laverriere and his wife Beverly of Florida and Biddeford, Rick and his wife Rachel of Biddeford, and Randy and his wife Denise of Saco; her sister, Gloria Nadeau of Turner; and also seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

The family of Doris would like to thank the staff at Biddeford Estates for their compassion, care and love for our Mom. They are true heroes and our Mom loved them. She enjoyed her three years while she was there.
