Jackson c. Caldwell
SACO – Jackson C. Caldwell, 86, of Hillview Avenue, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
He was born in Manchester, Conn. June 6, 1934, the son of Jackson C. and Louise Harris Caldwell.
He attended local schools in Connecticut and then served his country in the USMC during the Korean Conflict. While with the USMC, he served in the Philippines, Manila and Japan.
After his service to his country, he returned to Connecticut and worked for Pratt Whitney.
In 1960 he married Jane Barker Caldwell. In 1966, they moved to Arlington, Mass. and then to Ocean Park, where they owned and operated Roberta by the Sea.
Working for Compugraphics in Wilmington, Mass. for 10 years, he was then employed by American Science and Engineering before he retired.
In retirement, he continued to love Ocean Park, fixing and building things, old cars, guns, telling his service time stories, his pets and traveling to see lifelong friends, the Potterson’s of Coventry, Conn. His favorite pastime was taking care of family and his grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his wife, Jane, in 2017.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Caldwell of Saco and Karen Murphy and husband Timothy of Saco; a brother, Douglas Caldwell (Anne Tewhey); and two granddaughters, Jillian Caldwell Murphy and Tenley Elizabeth Murphy.
A graveside service with USMC Honors will be held Friday, April 30, at 12 p.m. at Laurel Hill Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Jane.
A reception in Ocean Park will be announced.
Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco are entrusted with his services.
