Binga’s Stadium is relocating from downtown Portland to Forest Avenue, where it plans to open a smaller restaurant with a large outdoor patio and live entertainment.

The new Portland location of the Binga’s Wingas restaurant chain, which specializes in wings, will be more like its other neighborhood locations in Yarmouth, Windham and Old Orchard Beach, a press release said.

Binga’s Stadium has been located at 77 Free St. since 2009. The 17,000-square-foot building has at times has had more than 50 employees on its staff, the press release said. It said that staying in Portland was important for retaining staff and customers but that the city’s minimum wage increase played into its decision to abandon its business model.

The new location at 949 Forest Ave. is the former home of Maelily Ryleigh’s diner. The Free Street location remains open during the move, happening “in the coming weeks,” the press release said.
