Route 302 in Windham was restricted to one lane of traffic for most of Monday to repair a water main break.
The Cumberland County Regional Communications Center announced around 5 p.m. that the heavily traveled road had reopened to traffic.
The water main break was reported around 7 a.m. Monday on Route 302 near Lee’s Family Trailer and Tractor Supply Co., reducing traffic to one lane. The Portland Water District sent a crew to repair the break, but drivers were encouraged throughout the day to seek alternate routes.
Water district crews found the break in an 8-inch main near 456 Roosevelt Trail. The water main break affected 12 water district customers who were expected to be without water for at least four hours, according to Michelle Clements, a spokesperson for the water district.
