LEWISTON — After receiving word Sunday that one of its students had tested positive for COVID-19, Saint Dominic Academy officials closed the Lewiston campus temporarily. The school teaches pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

Remote learning will be offered to its students through Monday, Sept. 28.

According to a news release from the school Monday evening, there are no known cases at its Auburn campus, which teaches sixth through 12th grade and will remain open.

According to school officials, any student who may have had close contact with the student who tested positive will now quarantine for 14 days. The families of those students have been contacted individually, and all school families were notified of the situation via email on Sunday, officials said.

“The families of students who have potentially been in contact with the students have been informed of the situation,” Principal Alanna Stevenson said in a letter to school families on Monday. “The school has implemented the Diocese of Portland’s safety protocols in the event of a positive test and is working with the Maine Center for Disease Control.”

In a statement from the school Sunday, officials said custodial services have disinfected and sanitized all areas of the campus to prepare for the campus’s reopening.
