PORTLAND — Casco Bay Lines has made another reduction in its ferry schedule in light of the city’s stay at home emergency order issued to slow the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
The altered schedule can be found on the schedule page of the Casco Bay Lines’ website and is available on the vessels. It is also available in the terminal.
“The additional reduction allows (Casco Bay Island Transit District) to further minimize COVID-19 exposure for as many of our staff as possible, cutting the number of necessary marine crew approximately in half from what is being used under the current, reduced schedule,” according from a press release from the organization. “This also preserves the availability of non-active crew members to sustain service should others test positive for COVID-19, thereby decreasing the likelihood of a suspension of all service.”
Total ridership on vessels will be capped and passengers are asked to practice social distancing, rip their own tickets and only use ferries for essential travel.
