Bridget Anne
(Farley) Chandler
POWNAL – Bridget Anne (Farley) Chandler, 68, of Pownal, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, surrounded by her family, at Midcoast Senior Health’s Bodwell Center, following a very long battle with C.O.P.D.
Bridget was born in Portland, Maine, on June 17, 1951, the daughter of Thomas F. and Ruth P. (Parks) Farley. She grew up and attended Portland and Freeport schools graduating in 1969. She married the love of her life, Robert Chandler, on Dec. 19, 1970.
For a number of years she was a stay at home wife and mother, giving her full attention to her family whom she adored.
Once her son reached high school she started working for Hannaford Supermarket in Yarmouth where she continued to work for 20-plus years. She loved socializing and making friends with customers and co-workers alike.
In her spare time, Bridget loved watching sports. The Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots were among her favorites along with NASCAR and college sports of any kind, especially the Auburn University football games. She would then follow up with extended phone calls with her sister, Sue, and her brother, Tom, to talk scores and statistics for hours.
She also enjoyed watching and spending time with her pet duck, D.D., often bringing D.D. for rides to visit friends. What a kick it was to see her coming with her D.D. in the front seat. Her son, Robert Jr., and becoming a “Nan”, were her proudest accomplishments and if you had a minute she would tell you all about Robbie and her girls.
Bridget is predeceased by her parents and her loving husband Robert Chandler Sr. She is survived by her son, Robert Jr. and his companion, Julie, of Durham; granddaughters, Casey Chandler of Durham and Erin Chandler and her companion, Adam Thibeault of Brunswick; and two great-grandchildren, Aydin and Aubree Thibeault of Brunswick. Siblings, Tom Farley and wife, Linda, of Pennsylvania; Tim Farley and wife, Bernadette, of South Carolina; Susan Farley of Freeport; Kenneth Farley and wife, Roxie, of Freeport, and Peter Farley of Sabattus.
A celebration of life will be held at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Roxie Farley in Freeport on Oct. 26, 2019 at 2 p.m. A private interment at Burr cemetery in Freeport will take place at a later date.
The family would like to express special thanks to Susan, Kim and Pam from Hospice and Elder Independence of Maine for all the devoted hours of loving care they gave to Bridget. Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives. Condolences may be expressed at www.FuneralAlternatives.net
