NEWFIELD – A 63-year-old Newfield man missing since around 11 a.m. Saturday was found safe about 7 p.m., about eight hours after he was last seen on Demeritt Road in West Newfield.
David Penney was found safe by the Maine Warden Service, said Maine Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
After a preliminary search and interviews with neighbors, game wardens and fire personnel starting searching the nearby roads and woods.
Warden Lucas Bellanceau and his canine partner Breezy searched a wooded area behind Penny’s residence where they eventually located the man about seven-tenths of mile from his house in thick marshy area near a brook, said Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife spokesman Mark Latti.
Maine Game Wardens, Maine State Police, York County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Newfield, Acton, Limerick, and Wakefield, New Hampshire fire departments were all involved in the search for Penney.
York County Emergency Management Agency deployed a drone to aid in the search.
Maine State Police and York County Sheriff’s Office had issued a statement at about 6:30 p.m., saying Penney was missing and asking for the public’s help.
