BOWDOINHAM — The state fire marshal’s office says it can’t determine what caused the fire that destroyed a home in Bowdoinham a week ago.

Sgt. Joel Davis said the damage to the house was too extensive for investigators to find what caused the blaze. The home was destroyed.

Neighbors reported the house on fire at 84 Ridge Road shortly after 9 p.m. on Sept. 5. No one was living in the single-story ranch owned by Todd Delair. A car parked near the home ignited and was destroyed as well.

Crews from four towns battled the blaze for about 45 minutes before they extinguished the flames. No one was hurt.

Davis said Tuesday the fire was not considered suspicious..

It has been an unlucky year for fires on Ridge Road in Bowdoinham. A family lost their home at 447 Ridge Road in an early morning fire on June 30 that firefighters believed was sparked by a lightning strike. In March, a house at 727 Ridge Road was destroyed by a fire that apparently started in the living room.
