BRUNSWICK – Linda Kathleen Knowles 75, died unexpectedly Wednesday Sept. 4, 2019 at her home in Brunswick. Linda was born Nov. 20, 1943 in Brunswick to Winthrop R. and Geraldine M. (Hunter) Staples. Linda grew up in the Brunswick area and attended local schools. In the early 1980s she obtained her GED which she was so proud of.

Following the birth of her children, Linda worked evenings at the Giant Store, then Duval’s Bakery and lastly at Mid Coast Hospital for 35 years, retiring to enjoy life at Pejepscot Terrace. She continued to volunteer at Mid Coast Hospital and Pejepscot Terrace. She will be sadly missed by her friend and neighbor, Jan Lufkin, friends, and her loving companion, Rodger.

Linda loved her family and blessed them with a lifetime of love and memories. She enjoyed having her grandchildren next door to her. She would often return home from work to find them anxiously awaiting her arrival. She taught them all to cook in her kitchen. Linda could often be found in her perennial gardens that dotted her property. She enjoyed knitting, reading, travel and family gatherings. She participated in her monthly class reunion luncheons, always baking her sought after pies for the raffle.

Linda was predeceased by her parents; and a brother, Lonnie Staples. She is survived by a son, Lee Knowles and his wife, Stacia of Marinette, Wis., and a daughter, Lisa Merrill and companion, Randy Allen of Orr’s Island; a brother, Dallas Staples of Brunswick, a sister, Jean (Staples) DeFreitas of Topsham; and six grandchildren, Samantha Merrill, Scott, Jeremy, Daniel, Henry and Sarah Knowles.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 12 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 771 Lewiston Rd., in Topsham with Pastor Lael Fenton officiating. To write a note of condolence or leave a memory please visit www.brackettfh.com
