BOWDOINHAM— Fire destroyed a house at 84 Ridge Road in Bowdoinham Thursday night.
The fire was reported shortly after 9 p.m. by neighbors. No one was living in the single-story ranch, owned by Todd Delair. No one was injured.
The roof had collapsed before firefighters arrived. They also had to extinguish flames that engulfed a nearby car.
Bowdoinham Deputy Fire Chief Jeremy Moeller estimated it took about 45 minutes to douse the flames. Most of the structure collapsed, including part of the basement.
Moeller said Delair was reportedly moving out of the home and neighbors said he’s living out of state. He was notified of the fire Thursday, along with the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
A fire investigator will try to determine how the fire started, but the fire is not considered suspicious, Moeller said Thursday.
Bowdoinham was assisted by crews from Bowdoin, Richmond and Topsham.
