ALFRED — Spaces are still available for crafters and vendors interested in participating in York County Shelter Program’s 10th annual Shaker Hill Apple Festival to take place on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 21 and 22.
Those interested in the juried show may contact Michelle McCarthy at mmcc@creativemw.com.
The festival is YCSP’s largest annual fundraising event. This year’s event is also the kick-off of YCSP’s celebration of its 40th anniversary.
On average, the festival features about 50 crafters and a dozen or more vendors. Visitors to the festival will find jewelry, fabric arts, fine art, woodworking, handmade soaps, pottery and more. Local authors and photographers are also featured.
The event also includes live music, food, and family activities such as pony rides, hay wagon rides and antique car rides. Apple-picking is available in the nearby orchard. Tours of the Alfred Shaker Museum and a number of activities sponsored by Friends of the Alfred Shaker Museum all combine for the festival on Shaker Hill.
One popular aspect of the festival is the giant yard sale in the Shaker Barn, where bargain seekers may browse for furniture, household goods and antiques. Those with items to donate may call Lori Theriault or Pam Buck at 324-1137.
The fair is held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The event is free; there is plenty of parking.
