WOOLWICH – Dana McLean, 66, of Woolwich passed away on August 13, 2019 at his home after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born in Bath to George McLean and Edna York McLean Loveitt on Nov. 4, 1952.
Dana was a man of many talents. There wasn’t anything with a motor that he couldn’t fix or anything with wood that he couldn’t build. Later in life he focused his talent on building from scratch and displaying in galleries and museums throughout the midcoast his “Shrunken Lobsterboats of Maine”.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister Shirley. He is survived by his longtime best friend and companion Linda Gilbert, brothers John and George; children Dana Jr., Edward, Tracy, Norma, Victoria; his beloved grandson Arthur; as well as numerous other grand and great grandchildren.
At his request there will be no services. A scattering of ashes in a few of his favorite places is planned for late fall.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
