Four local Scouts from Brunswick’s Troop 648 spent two weeks with nearly 50,000 Scouts from around the world. Tyler Andresen, Joey Valliere, Christian Stewart and Tucker Gagnon traveled to the World Scout Jamboree held in West Virginia July 21-Aug. 2.
One of the Scouts, Tucker Gagnon, remarked that his favorite part of the Jamboree was meeting new people and learning about their cultures. Scouts took part in trading patches and part of their uniforms that were unique to their nation or region.
Andresen used cans of Moxie to trade for uniform items from Japan and Europe.
“Being around so many different people and nations was awesome,” Andresen said in a news release. “We all really came together.”
“The Scouts worked together, they played together, they had fun together and made new friends that will last a lifetime,” said Gagnon.
The World Scout Jamboree is held every four years in a different location. The 2023 Jamboree will be held in Saemangeum, South Korea.
