BANGOR — Two people died after the motorcycle they were riding crashed with a van Monday night.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified Tuesday as Chaz Gray, 31, of Levant, died at the scene, News Center Maine (WCSH/WLBZ) reported. His passenger, Adriane Mehuren, 29, of Bangor, was brought to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical with life-threatening injuries. She died Tuesday, police said.
A post on the East Millinocket Police Department Facebook page said Gray was a corrections officer at the Penobscot County Jail.
Bangor’s police and fire departments responded to the crash around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Union Street and Godfrey Boulevard, located not far from the Bangor International Airport.
The passengers in the van were unharmed, police said. They were examined by paramedics at the scene and declined further treatment. The driver of the van was identified Tuesday as Sylvalyn Tracy, 72, of Bangor. She was not injured.
Officers at the East Millinocket Police Department wrote its condolences in the post for the Gray family, Adriane Mehuren’s family, and all of the “brothers and sisters” at the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
Bangor police are investigating the crash.
