Editor,
Another year, another one for the books! Kennebunk Free Library’s 22nd Edition Road Race, held on Friday, July 12, was a great success with 522 participants. The weather held out for us, the conditions on Dane Street were runner-friendly, and the music played on.
KFL receives municipal funding, but as a nonprofit organization we still need to engage in significant fundraising. Each year we need to raise approximately $200,000 to meet our budget mark. The Road Race is one of our major events that help us accomplish this.
None of this would be possible without the support of our community members, local business sponsors, and prize providers. Thank you for your ongoing support that keeps us a thriving and valuable resource for the community.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous contributions to our Annual Appeal fundraiser which concluded on June 30. This year you raised over $68,000 for KFL.

Director, Kennebunk Free Library

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
