Phippsburg – Todd M Watson of Phippsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at his home with his family by his side at the age of 57. Todd was born on June 20, 1962, the son of Frederick “Bud” and Virginia H. (Lemont) Watson. He grew up in Phippsburg, attended Phippsburg schools and spent his entire life in the small community that he called “home”. He met his sweetheart, Belinda Gomes, in Phippsburg and the couple have been together for over 30 years, raising his family in this community is something that Todd took great pride in.
Todd was a self-employed fisherman. He fished for Tuna mostly, and was considered a “High Liner”. He also was a clam digger, quahogger and lobsterman. He had a real passion for the sea. He started working on the ocean at the young age of 14, and never stopped. He worked hard, very hard, but always said it was worth every penny.
Todd was not much of a social lite, kept to himself mostly, but when it came to fishing, he was the go to guy. Todd could talk for hours on the subject. He loved to share his knowledge with the young fella’s who wanted to learn, especially his son Dan. He was always willing to give advice on how to do things the right way. Safely.
Todd was a simple man, he never wanted for much and always had a smile to share. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family. He was a very proud dad, and believed in his son. He will be missed by all those that loved him.
He was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, Eugene Watson.
Todd leaves behind his life partner, Belinda Gomes of Phippsburg; their son, Daniel Watson and his life partner, Eden Gagnon of Phippsburg; his grand dogs, Callie and Sophie; brothers, Troy Watson & Terry Watson and his life partner Sally Atwater both of Phippsburg; his nephews, David Hallowell, Aaron Watson and Casey Watson of Phippsburg; and many extended family members.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00pm at the Phippsburg Sportsman’s Club. Family & Friends are invited to come and share in the stories that made Todd who he was. There will be a POTLUCK supper, if you would like to help out, please give Sally a call at 751-2426.
