Summer activities are in full swing at Maine’s First Ship’s second annual “Summer at the Freight Shed” series. Visitors are invited to take part in a variety of programs during the day and to attend lectures in the evening.

A lecture on Maine’s Great Blue Heron from state Wildlife Biologist Danielle D’Auria is set for Tuesday July 23 at 6:30 pm, sponsored by the Kennebec Estuary Land Trust. On Wednesday July 24, from 10 p.m. to p.m. is a presentation by Maine’s First Ship rigger Jim Nelson. On Thursday, July 25, at 7 p.m. will be a talk by Maine’s First Ship volunteer Mark Phillips on navigation.

August brings tours of the 1607-1608 English colony site of Fort St. George, and of Virginia under construction; drop-in sessions on caulking and 17th century sailcloth and the 6th annual Fiber Day. Evenings include lectures on red tide, and early interactions between Wabanaki and English in Maine.

Unless otherwise noted, all events are at the Bath Freight Shed at 27 Commercial St.
