The Raging Tide, a team composed of players from Lisbon, Brunswick, Woolwich and Topsham, won the 14U Division IA Silver Bracket Championship of the New England Elite Baseball League. The Tide won the championship on Saturday in Westwood, Mass., defeating Massachusetts teams in the semifinals and finals. The tournament spanned two weekends as 16 teams competed. At Edwards Field in Brunswick, the Tide defeated the Southern Maine River Rats, 10-0. The following day at Malden, Mass., the Raging Tide defeated the North Shore Vikings, 7-4, as Matt Orlando went 4-for-4 with three RBIs. The next weekend in the semifinals at Westwood, Mass., against the New England Storm, the Tide rallied from a three-run seventh-inning deficit for the win and a spot in the title game. Wilcox drove in the winning run. final. Against the GBG Hawks White squad, the Raging Tide rolled early and picked up the title with a 13-2 victory. An eight-run second inning, highlighted by a two-run triple by AJ Wolverton, led to the win. Booker earned the win in both the semifinal and championship contests.
