Editor,
Regarding Gov. Mills signing three climate action bills at local solar array:
By making this significant, measurable goals to cut carbon pollution, the Maine Legislature and Gov. Mills are telling the country and the world that Maine is serious about fighting global warming.
Our state has so much at stake, from the vital lobster industry to our beautiful shoreline and forests. The health of Mainers is also suffering from a surge of lyme disease and increased adult asthma rates, exacerbated by rising temperatures.
Shifting to 100 percent renewable energy and deeply slashing greenhouse gas emissions are essential parts to solving these problems. We all want healthier, safer communities, but it takes hard work. Thankfully, our leaders are listening, because without laws like the ones enacted today, there is no way to reach our goal of making Maine “the way life should be.”
