1939 – 2019
Brunswick, Darlene M. Smith, 79, of Brunswick, passed away on June 16, 2019 at Mid Coast Hospital. She was born August 6, 1939 in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late William A. and Mildred B. (Hoerner) Smith. She graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1957. She worked for Bell Telephone Co. for 34 years, taking early retirement in 1991. Darlene was a lifelong member of Linglestown Life Church. She taught the Ladies Bible Study there until moving to Maine in 2016 to be closer to her sister. In Maine she was a member of The Loyalty Club at Brunswick U.M. Church and The Bath Senior Center. Darlene was a giver, always thinking of others, finding written articles or some small memento that reminded her of someone, then sending or giving it to them. She was a strong Christian, living her faith daily, always with a smile on her face and a kind word to say. She was a good person and the best “Big Sister” ever. She is survived by her sister Bonita Hayden of Brunswick, nephew, Sean Morgan and his wife Gail and children Kendall and Connor of Florida, nephew, Michael Morgan and his wife Christina and children Calin and Evangeline of Germany. Funeral Services and burial will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 in Harrisburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, please do a kind deed in Darlene’s honor.
