DAYTON — Dayton Consolidated School has made national news for embracing American Sign Language in order to communicate with a hearing-impaired kindergartner. Students and staff are learning sign language to communicate with 6-year-old Morey Belanger, and the school has posters through out the school to assist in the learning process. Morey and her school have been featured on CBS national news, People.com, and other media. “We are extremely proud of our students in Dayton for encompassing kindness and inclusion by learning sign language,” said Principal Kim Sampietro.
