MONTPELIER — Brian Goulard homered, and Austin Gauthier hit a bases-clearing triple during a five-run fourth inning as the Vermont Mountaineers rolled to a 10-3 win over the Sanford Mainers in an NECBL baseball game at Montpelier Recreation Field in Vermont.
The Mountaineers (2-1) tacked on three more runs in the fifth, behind Goulard’s home run (a two-run shot), to take a 9-1 lead. JR DeSarcina added two hits and two RBIs.
Tyler Thorington picked up the win for the Mountaineers, allowing one run on one walk and three hits while striking out seven.
Ryan Turenne and Robbie Armitage each homered for the Mainers (2-3). Turenne added a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Sanford heads to Holyoke, Massachusetts to play the Valley Blue Sox (4-1) Thursday at 6:35 p.m.
