ALFRED — Voters will have the chance to hear from municipal candidates running for selectman, RSU 57 director, the library board of trustees and Alfred Water District trustees at a candidates night May 29, ahead of the June 11 election.
Three candidates, including incumbent Glenn ”Doc” Dochtermann are vying for one, three-year term on the Board of Selectmen. Also in the running are Nancy O’Connell and John Sylvester, who resigned from the selectmen’s board in February 2016, after nearly 22 years on the board.

John Flagler is unopposed for one, three-year term as an RSU 57 director. Similarly, Eileen Connolly and Marta Northover are unopposed for terms as directors of Parsons Memorial Library. Greg Knight is seeking a three-year term as an Alfred Water District Trustee, and Rebecca Knight is seeking a two-year term as a water district trustee.
Candidates night is set for 7 p.m, May 29 at Conant Chapel, adjacent to the Alfred Town Hall on Saco Road.
Alfred voters will go to the polls at Conant Chapel on June 11, followed by the annual Town Meeting at Alfred Elementary School on June 15, where they’ll decide on the municipal budget for the coming year and any ordinance changes.
