BATH — Brooke Herriman had Lake Region’s lone hit, a two-run fifth-inning double, to lift the Lakers to a 2-1 victory over Morse in a high school softball matchup on Friday on Legion Field.
Morse (1-1) pitcher Dory Kulis was dominant, striking out 12 and hitting a batter.
Lake Region’s Haley Ferrald struck out eight and walked three in the win.
Paige Faulkingham tripled for the Shipbuilders, who host Mt. Ararat today at 4 p.m., while Kali Pierce added a single.
Baseball
FARMINGDALE — Tim Cookson had four hits and five RBIs to lead Hall-Dale to a 22-0 over Wiscasset in a Mountain Valley Conference win in a its season opener on Friday.
Cookson doubled and tripled, while Patrick Rush hit a three-run double, and Sam Shaefer had two hits and two RBIs. Austin Stebbins also had a double for Hall-Dale.
Wiscasset failed to register a hit and will look to bounce back today at home against Monmouth Academy (4 p.m.).
